“Gathering” Receives Award      Hi, I'm Meli. My NEWEST duty as hostess of the "Gathering" web site is to congratulate and THANK the people who do all of the hard work that goes into bringing you this fantastic conference every two years. This year the Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau saw fit to thank and HONOR the “Gathering of the Green”. This is what they said: "The sixth “Gathering of the Green” conference was held on March 17-20, 2010 at the RiverCenter in Davenport, IA which is one of the Quad Cities (Davenport, IA; Bettendorf, IA; Moline, IL; East Moline, IL; and Rock Island, IL). Over 2000 John Deere antique tractor enthusiasts from 37 states, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands attended the conference in Davenport this past March. Each year, the Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau recognizes individuals, companies and organizations that have successfully brought meetings, conventions and events to the Quad Cities in the past year. We are pleased that the “Gathering of the Green” was selected to receive the “Host It Here” award for its positive economic impact on the Quad Cities economy. Tony Knobbe, secretary of the “Gathering” board and a resident of Davenport attend the luncheon and received the award on behalf of all “Gathering” planning board members and the many volunteer workers. A huge thank you for making this award possible is extended to every John Deere two-cylinder and New Generation enthusiast who joined us in Davenport in March, 2010."
