“GATHERING OF THE GREEN”
2010!
"Where Friends Meet"
March 17, 18, 19 & 20, 2010
River Center – Davenport, IA
These comments shared by “Gathering” attendees on the evaluation forms, e-mails, letters and telephone calls tell the story of what people experienced during their time in Davenport. Here are few:
You have given us so much joy!
There is simply so much going on to take in everything over the three days of the “Gathering.” One feels like a kid allowed one morning at Disneyland. So much to see and do and not enough time for it all. Decisions, decisions.
It was simply incredible and it’s hard to believe that it was organized by volunteers and not trade show professionals.
You have hit another home run!
The only drawback is having to go back to the real world after the conference ended. Congratulations on another fantastic event.
I had a great time and wished I was twins on occasion so I could attend two workshops at the same time.
As usual, things ran very well – excellent program handouts, everything was well posted with signs and notices, public announcements over loudspeakers were made when necessary, maps, etc. – and details such as providing continuously running shuttle buses reflect the efforts and work done by “Gathering” organizers. And oh yes, there were tractors and implements too!
The work you all put into the 2010 GOG was shown through the displays, the ceremonies, the brochures, the welcome tables, the parking, the hotels, etc. Everything seemed to flow together. We can tell it comes from your hearts and the passion all of you have for the J.D. hobby. We had a fabulous time and appreciate having a “Place where Friends Meet.”
Always a great show and I highly recommend that you take the time to attend in the future.
My father and I went out for most of the GOG. It was great. It was the first time we’d ever been. The facilities were tremendous and the clubs running it did a phenomenal job of organizing it. We definitely will go again. The RiverCenter was an incredible place.
I hated to see it end. I found myself looking at the tractors in the RiverCenter for the 23rd time on Saturday.
We found the “Gathering” workers to be friendly and helpful whenever we had a question and workers always offered a friendly “hello.”
Everything was professionally arranged and we appreciate all the work that was done to make it that way.
The new location was great and the show was, as always, perfect. Thanks again.
Great show and we had a great time. Excellent facility – A++
It was a great time. If you have never attended a Gathering, you should plan to attend in the future.
We JD collectors owe them a real thumbs up.
A show of this magnitude takes time and planning. To the clubs that worked together to bring us this show, THANK YOU
Thank you! Thank you to everyone who worked on the 2010 Gathering. It was great, great. Don’t see how you can all make it better than last time, but you do. Everyone I’ve attended is the best one.
Terrific Gathering! Can’t say enough about what you folks do for the hobby.
And finally this note which says it all:
I can’t seem to get the “Gathering of the Green” out of my mind. Of course there was the meticulous planning, the contagious enthusiasm of the seminars, the fellowship of fellow collectors and just plain “nice people,” the seemingly endless ocean of vendors, but there was something more. There seemed to be something bordering on the mystical or perhaps spiritual. I think this spirit was captured in the beautiful antique tractors on display. The many displays brought tears to my eyes as I remembered a simpler time and loved ones departed. I remembered the sounds and smells of old time shops where sometimes gruff mechanics worked what seemed like miracles on magnetos, carburetors and distributors. Thanks for letting me be a boy again for a short while.
