THANK YOU for the “Harvest in the Heartland”

Corn Picker     Four beautifully restored tractors, one from each sponsoring club, were on special display during the “Gathering” week at the John Deere Collectors Center. With the ongoing support of the Collectors Center, a display of this type has been in place at each “Gathering.” Thanks to Brian Holst, Collectors Center Manager, for his support and assistance.
It is literally impossible to thank everyone individually who had a part in the organization, planning and presentation of 2006 “Gathering of the Green.” There is simply not sufficient space to do so in this review. The only reward for the level of dedication required in a project like this is that the literally dozens of volunteer workers and planners have the satisfaction in knowing that the conference was a marvelous success, having provided an opportunity for people from every corner of the United States and Canada to come to Moline for an absolutely wonderful time. Satisfaction in knowing that it was a job well done is reward in itself. Congratulations and thank you.

As indicated above, it is not possible to name everyone who played a part in the success of the “Gathering,” but it is imperative that we recognize the following their contribution:
  • Holiday Inn Moline Airport
  • City of Moline
  • Quad Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau
  • Deere & Company
  • Gene Tencza, Web Master
  • Isle of Capri Casino
  • Dan Meyer, Mallard Nursery
  • John Deere Collectors Center
Below are the members of the “Gathering” Planning Board who worked long and hard to plan, organize and present the 2006 conference:
  • Audio-Visual & Workshops – Terry Welshans
  • Banquet Seating Project & Club Raffle Baskets – Dorothy Bockwoldt
  • Bus Coordination – Tony Knobbe & John Nielsen
  • “Harvest in the Heartland” Displays – Jackie Williams, Don McKinley & Marvin Huber
  • Gator Project – Art Benson
  • Opening Night Reception – Don & Marge Sefried
  • Publicity in the Quad Cities - Eileen Groth
  • Program Book – Jim Wise
  • Registration – Brad & Sandra Kofoed
  • Single Day Admission – Jean Schaffner
  • Tractor Display at Holiday Inn – Cork Groth
  • Volunteer Workers – Elmer & Pearl Rhoads
  • Vendor Coordination – Bruce Johnson
  • Planners who provided important and vital assistance working on a variety of tasks: John Bennehoff, Dick Bockwoldt, Phyllis Benson, Susan Johnson, Bunky Mease, Dee Ann Mease, Shelby Reese, Ron Schroder, Bun Shaffner, Carolyn Welshans, & Mike Williams.
  • Cochairmen – Mark Johnson & Ken Reese
A special note of appreciation is extended to Green Magazine. Richard Hain, Editor, and Debbie Behne, Layout/Design Manager, were instrumental in assisting planners to publicize the 2006 “Gathering of the Green.” On behalf of all “Gathering” planners and organizers, we thank you so very much.
The “Gathering” would not be a reality if it were not for the four sponsoring tractor clubs who came together in 1999 and agreed to take a risk and present the first “Gathering of the Green.” We salute the Deer Valley Collectors, Illinois Valley Two-Cylinder Club, North Eastern Illinois Two-Cylinder Club and the Northwest Illinois Two-Cylinder Club for their confidence in and continued support of this very special event.

Vendors Will there be another “Gathering” in 2008??? As they say on the radio, stay tuned!

Respectfully submitted,
Mark Johnson and Ken Reese -- on behalf of all “Gathering” planners and organizers Cochairs
