Many, perhaps thousands, of two-cylinder and New Generation tractors and implements in “working clothes” are still helping farmers in the fields and farm yards across America and Canada, but sooner or later those venerable and magnificent old green and yellow machines and implements will no longer be seen on the farms and ranches of our countries. Preservation of these icons of North American agriculture is essential, for they tell the story of the history of that era and how it formed the rock-solid foundation for what John Deere has come to represent. If we don’t preserve the past, the history and legacy of these irreplaceable machines can easily slip from public consciousness. The ”Gathering of the Green” has become an important vehicle for addressing and furthering this goal; therefore the 2008 theme, “Preserving the Past,” is appropriate as we emphasize the evolution of agriculture and rural life with a focus on two-cylinder and New Generation tractors, implements, and the long history and heritage of John Deere.
Plan to attend the 2008 “Gathering” in Moline as we carry on the quest to insure the continuation of our combined loyalty to and admiration of all things John Deere. You won’t be disappointed!
